Banknotes and coins in Japan

WE HAVE MOVED! Join us on:

money.jpg

The Yen (¥) is the currency of Japan and there are 4 types of notes in circulation: 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 yen, 6 types of coins: 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 yen.

Cash is the most common form of payment in Japan, however credit cards are widely accepted in many places. The traveler's checks in dollars or yen are easily exchanged for cash at banks, but are not readily accepted in small shops and restaurants.

You can exchange euros for yen at banks, international airports and other exchange houses. At the airport, currency exchange counters are usually open during normal business hours.

Here is a picture of banknotes and coins which we referred in our post.
